PL

Pranee Lertpong

Bangkok, 52 · The First Shoot

"I had been putting this off for years because I assumed I would feel stupid asking basic questions. The First Shoot was the opposite of that. There was never a moment where I felt I had asked something wrong. I came away understanding my savings account for the first time properly."

Bangkok, 47 · Standing Steady

"Six weeks felt like exactly the right length. Long enough that things actually sank in, but not so long that it became a burden. The planning notebook is something I still use. I would have preferred a slightly longer session on fixed deposit options, but the rest was well-paced throughout."

Suchada Wiriyapong

Nonthaburi, 55 · The Whole Grove

"The ten weeks passed more quickly than I expected. By session four I could see clearly why I had been anxious about retirement planning — it was a lack of vocabulary, not a lack of ability. The closing reflection was a genuinely useful exercise that I did not expect to find helpful but did."

Khajorn Noiphan

Bangkok, 61 · The Whole Grove

"My main concern going in was that someone would try to sell me something. No one did. Siriporn was clear from the first session about what the course could and could not offer. That honesty made the whole experience feel safe. I left with a clearer head about the next few years."

Napaporn Suwan

Bangkok, 44 · Standing Steady

"I signed up because a colleague recommended it. I was not sure I had the time for six weeks of anything. The sessions are not long, and the recorded versions meant I could catch up on the one I missed without feeling behind. Useful material, delivered without any fuss."

Pathum Thani, 58 · The First Shoot

"I was nervous about joining something with a group of strangers, but the group stayed small and Nantawan made the enrolment process simple. Three sessions felt like a reasonable start — not too much, not too little. I am planning to join Standing Steady next."

Case Studies

How the journey looked for some participants

These are composites based on patterns we observe across cohorts, shared with permission and with identifying details changed.

Story 1 · The First Shoot

The challenge

A participant in her early fifties had never opened a savings account on her own — financial decisions had always been handled by her husband. After his passing, she needed to understand her banking situation from scratch, without anyone to ask.

What happened

She joined The First Shoot and found the pace suited her exactly. The printed guide became a reference she returned to between sessions. By the second session she had visited her bank and understood, for the first time, how her accounts were structured.

Three months later

She moved to Standing Steady and, by her own account, felt able to have a clear conversation with her bank manager for the first time. The anxiety around money had shifted into something she described as "manageable curiosity."

Story 2 · The Whole Grove Programme

The challenge

A man in his early sixties, planning to retire within three years, found himself unable to make sense of the pension statements he received or understand how his savings would translate into monthly income. He described it as "numbers without context."

What happened

The Whole Grove gave him ten weeks to work through the concepts steadily. The planning folder helped him organise his questions. By the closing reflection he had a document outlining what he understood, what still needed professional input, and what he wanted to find out next.

Outcome

He used the closing summary as preparation for a meeting with a licensed financial adviser — arriving with structured questions rather than vague uncertainty. He wrote to say the meeting was "the most productive conversation about money I have had in twenty years."
